Lately

Lately,

Braxton has just LOVED playing in this window with all his cars, I feel like this is all I ever post about in regards to him, but what can I say, he loves his cars, and he loves having "places" to drive them, line them up, park them, etc.

However, today, he found a NEW place to play.  We have been practicing coloring, and he loves it, and he really does a great job at staying on the paper...........................MOST of the time.  He has never tried to color on anything else, till today.
Thank heavens for washable markers, it took literally 2 seconds to wipe up.

Happy Birthday Ricky!

Happy Birthday Ricky!

For Ricky's birthday(February 5th) we went out to dinner, while my parents watched braxton for us. It was a nice quiet, fun, simple evening for the two of us. The following monday, I decided to surprise him with a Dairy Queen Blizzard Cake, and a house full of family. Thanks to all the family involved, the surprise was a HUGE success. Ricky had no idea, and really enjoyed the evening. I even put a small tribute to his favorite college team, Boise State, on the cake.
Love you sweetie!

Up to NO Good.

Quiet Mischief

Today Braxton and I played a lot! I was glad he was so chipper because for the past few weeks, he has not been the greatest at naps or bedtime, which, (thanks to my mother) made me suspect an ear infection. But today, he has been SO great. So I don't know what is going on, other than we had fun today. I sat down to check my email and I noticed Braxton had left the living room. Which usually means he is in his bedroom playing, and I can usually hear him. But this time was different. He was quiet. REALLY QUIET. TOO QUIET. UP TO NO GOOD KIND OF QUIET.

I slowly walked around into the kitchen to find this.....

I think the photos speak for themselves.

The 1st Haircut.

Yep, we did it.  We CUT HIS HAIR!  It all started at about 10:30 am this morning, when I realized that he was getting more of a mullet than cute long hair.  I loved his long hair, and his curls, and his "wispy-ness" as did many others.  I cried when I snipped the bottom layer off.  Goodbye cute little boy, hello handsome toddler.  So when Ricky came home, it took all of 2 seconds for him to say, "Brynn, what happened to his curls?"  I had to tell Ricky, that I just got the feeling I should cut it, and I did.  So, Ricky and I tag teamed finishing up his haircut (scissors only), the razor freaked him out.  But he actually sat through it, as long as we kept dumping out the money from the choo choo train bank.  That seemed to keep him quite chill, till his own hair started to fall on him.  He did NOT like that.  So I sprayed the mirror with some water, hoping he would like that and want to spray too.  Nope.  So it was a joint effort, and a few clean up cuts are still needed, but all is well.  We both miss his adorable curly locks, but it was time.

February Happenings!

A couple of days ago, Ricky decided to give Braxton a shower, and called me in to find this...
I had to take a few photos!

Today, Braxton and I went on a Date to Goodwill.  Every now and then I stop by and see what junk people are trying to get rid of, and in the process I try to leave some of our own "get-rid-of's."  I guess that is the cycle, get rid of junk then buy more junk.  However, today, I found some things that I thought Braxton just HAD to HAVE!  I found this ADORABLE wooden jungle gym thing, I usually see these with beads or something, but this one had cars, and stop signs, and trains.  So, I snatched it up!  Then I found the piano, which Braxton's friend Kloee owns and he loves it every time we go there.  Of course, all toys I thoroughly washed and disinfected prior to letting him play.  But he couldn't WAIT!
They are a big hit!  And I can't complain for a 6 dollar total for everything!

This photo was completely taken by accident, but I thought it was actually pretty cute, even though it's totally blurry...

The Adventures of Cash and Brax.

Say hello to this little guy. His name is Cash.

Say hello to this big boy.  Braxton.

Today, these two played together.  I wish I was able to capture more of their silliness and playfulness on camera, but unfortunately, I was playing too.

So yes, today, we remained in our pajamas, we emptied baskets of toys, played with empty boxes and messed up the house.  Bliss.

The little boy & his silver car.

Once upon a time there was a boy named Braxton.  He LOOOOVED to play with cars.  He played with them ANYWHERE.  One day, his mother found him playing quietly in the window sill.  No distractions, no other toys, just him, and his one silver car.  Mother watched with smile on her face as he started to discover yet one more place for his car to drive.  The blinds.

What joy came over this little boy, as he carefully, specifically and meticulously placed his silver car, in the blinds

A sense of accomplishment, pride, and a "I did it" face as he stared at his car.
Then he smirked at his mother.  Which of course made mother laugh.

So there that little silver car sits, in the blinds, in the window sill so quietly and patiently, waiting for this little boy, to come back.

Moments later, he DID come, and he played, he smiled, and we laughed.  And I thought to myself, "Oh the joys, of motherhood."
